Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12mm f/2

Photography Blog has tested a new high grade lens from Olympus that they have made for the Micro Four Thirds system. The lens, called Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12mm f/2, and has a full metal body, built-in depth of field and distance indicators, in addition to enhanced multi-layer lens coating and very light weight.

Photography Blog ends up giving the Olympus lens a “Recommended” rating with an overall score of 4 out of 5 possible stars. The 12mm lens scores highest on image quality, features and design, a little lower on ease of use, while it scores lowest on value for your money. Olympus has created a great little lens that is able to photography excellent pictures, but the price tag might be a bit high for many photographers.

Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro

SLR Gear has testes an interesting macro lens from Sigma. The lens is called Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro and is able to photograph at a very wide aperture.

SLR Gear ends up giving the a good review especially if you are using the lens on full frame DSLR camera. The lens does not offer the best sharpness and corner shading wide open, but it is better when used on a full frame camera.

Tokina AT-X 16-28mm F2.8 Pro FX

The Tokina AT-X 16-28mm F2.8 Pro FX is a nice zoom lens with a fast and constant aperture at F2.8. This Tokina lens is designed for full frame DSLR camera from Canon and Nikon, like the Nikon D700 and Canon EOS 5D Mark II. The lens comes with a new silent motor and a new faster autofocus sensor. Photography Blog ends up giving the Tokina AT-X 16-28mm F2.8 Pro FX a “Recommended” rating with an overall score of 4 out of 5 possible stars. The lens scores highest on design and image quality, and a little lower on features, ease of use and value for your money. For such a wide angle lens it produces excellent pictures and the auto focus is good, but the Tokina lens is heavy and costly. It also lacks image stabilization which can be a negative point for some photographers.

Nikon AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor 85mm

Photography Blog has reviewed a macro lens from Nikon. The lens is called Nikon AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR and comes with Nikon Silent Wave Motor (SWM) in addition to having a relatively low price tag. The Nikon lens is designed for their DX-format and gives you a 1:1 reproduction ratio.

Photography Blog ends up giving the Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G lens a “Recommended” rating with an overall rating of 4 out of 5 possible stars. The Nikon lens scores highest on design and ease of use where it gets a perfect a score, a little lower on features and value for your money and lowest on image quality. This Nikon macro lens is lightweight and has a compact design that is useful when walking around. The pictures from this lens is good, but the sharpness could been better.
