Photography Blog has tested the Sigma DP1s. This compact digital camera from Sigma has a big 14 megapixel Foveon image sensor so it seems that Sigma has created a compact that takes image quality serious. But now that Panasonic and Olympus has released their Micro Four Thirds camera is seems Sigma has got it tougher. Let us hear what the reviewer thinks about the DP1s.

Some key features for the Sigma DP1s camera:
-14.06 megapixel Foveon X3 sensor
-28mm f/4 prime lens
-2.5″ LCD screen
-RAW format support
-External hotshoe

Photography Blog ends up giving the Sigma DP1s an “Above average” rating with 3.5 out of 5 stars. The Sigma camera scores highest on image quality while scoring lower on value, features, ease of use and design. It is able to take pictures of excellent quality, but the camera lacks all the features you can get with Micro Four Thirds camera and on top of that it is quite expensive. The DP1s still seems like an interesting camera if you want the unique Foveon quality on your pictures.

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM AF

SLR Gear has reviewed the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM AF lens. This standard zoom lens has a constant large aperture across the zoom range making it more interesting than other standard zooms with varying aperture. But the constant aperture comes at a price since the Sigma lens got a $900 price tag. Will the hefty price be worth it?

SLR Gear find the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM AF to be pretty good, especially on cameras with smaller sensors than full frame cameras as you get quite a bit of vignetting on full frame. Wide open you get quite a bit of corner softness and chromatic aberrations, but if you stop it down it performs better. If you need sharp pictures at f/2.8 you might want to look at a more expensive lens, but if that is not so important for you you should consider this Sigma lens.

SLR Gear has reviewed the super wide Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM lens. With its constant f/3.5 this Sigma lens seems to be interesting for people who like to do wide angle photography. It remains to be seen what the reviewer thinks about the lens.

SLR Gear ends up giving the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM a very good review as the lens is able to take very sharp pictures especially at the wide end (where it counts). There is a bit of chromatic aberration, but there is less vignetting and corner shading than in the previous version of this Sigma lens.
