Panasonic updates firmware for DMC LX3 camera to version 1.1 – Improved auto fucus and white balance

Panasonic has released new firmware for their popular compact camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.
Firmware version 1.1 adds improved auto focus performance, improved auto white balance performance and compatibility update for the Panasonic DMW-FL220 flash unit.

Nikon updates firmware for D300 DSLR camera to 1.03 – Fixes Dead Battery Syndrome

Nikon has released an updated version of the firmware for their D300 DSLR camera. The new 1.03 version of the firmware fixes a problem often called “Dead Battery Syndrome” where the battery indicator falsely says that the battery is dead.

The 1.03 version of the Nikon D300 firmware can be downloaded here for Windows and here for Mac.

FujiFilm updates firmware for FinePix F100fd – Fixes pink banding

FujiFilm has updated the firmware for the FinePix F100fd camera to version 1.02. The new firmware is supposed to fix some pinkish-colored banding that happens when the image is shot at ISO 400 or shot without flash on ‘NATURAL & FLASH MODE’.

•Detail of the update

The firmware update Ver.1.02 incorporates the following issues.
– Reduce “pinkish-colored band” which may be rarely found in the left side edge of image when the image is shot at ISO 400 or shot without flash on “NATURAL & FLASH MODE”.

•Precaution
1. If firmware updating fails, the camera may no longer operate correctly in some cases.
Carefully read the notes provided here.

2. Always use the AC adapter when updating the firmware as a basic manner. Never turn the camera off or attempt to use any of the camera controls while the firmware is being overwritten.

3. Firmware updating requires approximately 20 seconds.

4. Once the firmware has been updated, the previous version cannot be restored.

Canon updates firmware for EOS 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III cameras – Focus problems supposed to be fixed

Canon has updated the firmware for their top-range DSLR cameras, the EOS 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III. The new versions are 1.2.3 for EOS 1D Mark III and 1.1.2 for 1Ds Mark III.
The updated firmware versions are supposed to fix the infamous auto focus problems.
There are also some new functions that give you direct access to auto focus points and new ways for exposure compensation.
