Camcorder Info has tested a new HD camcorder from Sony called Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5. This camcorder seems to be targeted at users of Youtube as it contains software that makes it easy to upload your videos directly to the web.

Some key features for the Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5:
-1920×1080 HD recording
-5 megapixel still images
-5x optical zoom
-2.5″ LCD screen
-Face detection
-HDMI output
-Software for easy uploading to the web

Camcorder Info ends up giving the Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5 an average rating as other camcorders in the same class are better on many specifications. The Bloggie is improved on several fields including better design, controls and two memory stick slots, but there are other models that can do the same recording job better.

Digital Camera Review has tested the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2100 digital camera. This budget camera from Sony sports 12 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and a large 3″ LCD screen.

Some key features for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2100:
-12.1 megapixel image sensor
-3x optical zoom lens (35-105mm)
-3″ LCD screen
-Uses SD and SDHC memory cards (and Memory Stick Pro Duo cards)
-Able to shoot 640×480 video at 30 fps

Digital Camera Review ends up giving the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S2100 an overall score of 3.5 stars out 5. The camera scores highest on features while scoring a bit lower on video and image quality. The reviewer finds the S2100 to produce good images in good light, but when you use lower ISO values the image quality is pretty poor. The reviewer also miss image stabilization and does find the buttons to be a bit small. Overall this seems like a good camera at a low price, but you can expect wonders from a camera costing around $100.

Imaging Resource has tested the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 digital camera. This Sony camera is supposed to be the slimmest camera that is waterproof. The camera also handles drops and cold temperatures.

Some key features for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5:
-10.2 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor
-3″ LCD touchscreen
-4x optical zoom lens (25-100mm)
-SteadyShot Image Stabilization
-Waterproof up to 3 meters
-Coldproof down to -10°C
-Shock-resistant up to 1.5 meters

Imaging Resource ends up giving the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 a good review and it even gets a “Dave’s Pick” award. The reviewer find the TX5 to take pictures of good quality and the design of the camera is very good. It also has a lot of useful features and the zoom range is nice. The only downsides with the TX5 is that the noise filter can be too harsh and the auto focus could be better. Overall it seems like a very good waterproof camera that will fit most pockets.

Imaging Resource has reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V digital camera. This Sony camera has an Exmor R CMOS sensor that is back-illuminated. This technology is supposed to give better pictures at higher ISO levels so let us hear what the reviewer thinks about this compact camera.

-10.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor
-10x optical zoom lens (25-250mm)
-3″ LCD screen
-Optical image stabilization
-Record movies in 1080i AVCHD quality
-45MB of internal memory

Imaging Resource ends up giving the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V a very good review and it even gets a “Dave’s Pick” award. The reviewer find the camera to be very usable and takes pictures of good quality. It also takes pretty good pictures in low light and has a nice zoom range. On the downside we find a few things like not much of manual controls and jerky zooming, but overall this seems like a very nice compact camera from Sony.
