SLR Gear has reviewed the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM AF lens. This standard zoom lens has a constant large aperture across the zoom range making it more interesting than other standard zooms with varying aperture. But the constant aperture comes at a price since the Sigma lens got a $900 price tag. Will the hefty price be worth it?

SLR Gear find the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM AF to be pretty good, especially on cameras with smaller sensors than full frame cameras as you get quite a bit of vignetting on full frame. Wide open you get quite a bit of corner softness and chromatic aberrations, but if you stop it down it performs better. If you need sharp pictures at f/2.8 you might want to look at a more expensive lens, but if that is not so important for you you should consider this Sigma lens.
