Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS

DIWA Labs has tested the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens on the new Canon 450D / Rebel XSi DSLR camera. Although the Canon 450D / Rebel XSi DSLR camera got a pretty low price it is able to produce pictures of very high quality. DIWA Labs says that the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens does not live up to what the camera is able to due to poorer performance from the lens. Maybe one should look for a better lens at a higher price to supplement the Canon 450D / Rebel XSi DSLR, if one can afford it.

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III DSLR

Canon has updated the firmware for their top-range DSLR cameras, the EOS 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III. The new versions are 1.2.3 for EOS 1D Mark III and 1.1.2 for 1Ds Mark III.
The updated firmware versions are supposed to fix the infamous auto focus problems.
There are also some new functions that give you direct access to auto focus points and new ways for exposure compensation.

Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS

LetsGoDigital has reviewed the popular Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS (known as Canon PowerShot SD790 IS in US) compact digital camera.
Some key features for the Canon IXUS 90 IS/PowerShot SD790 IS:
-10 megapixel sensor
-3x optical zoom lens (35-105mm equivalent)
-3.0” LCD screen
-Advanced face detection
-Optical viewfinder

LetsGoDigital ends up giving the compact camera a very good review as the IXUS 90 IS is able to produce pictures of high quality and the camera body got an excellent design.
The only downside is the lack of wide angle as the lens is only 35mm at the widest part of the range.
Apart from that it seems like Canon has produced another excellent compact camera.

Canon PowerShot S5 IS

DIWA Labs has tested the popular Canon PowerShot S5 IS compact digital camera.
Some key features for the Canon PowerShot S5 IS:
-8.0 megapixel sensor
-12x optical zoom (36-432mm equivalent)
-Image stabilization
-2.5” high-resolution LCD screen
-Long-play VGA movies with stereo sound

DIWA Labs says that this compact camera from Canon overall is able to produce pictures of high quality, but got some image noise due to the high resolution on the relatively small sensor. The lens is also performing very good with very little vignetting, but got quite a lot of chromatic aberration values at shortest and longest focal lengths.
