Canon Pixma MP990

Printer Comparison has tested the Canon PIXMA MP990 photo printer. This Canon printer has a lot of new features that photographers might find interesting.

Some key features for the Canon PIXMA MP990:
-Print speeds up to 11.9 ipm in black and 9.1 ipm in color
-4×6 photo print speed 12 seconds
-Print resolution up to 9600 x 2400 dpi
-Optical scanning resolution of 4800 dpi
-Six individual ink system
-3.8″ LCD screen

Printer Comparison ends up giving the Canon PIXMA MP990 an “Editor’s Choice” award as the printer produces photo prints of excellent quality and the reviewer likes the film scan adaptor. They can’ really find any cons except that the printer sometimes produces half prints. Sounds like Canon have made a real winner with the PIXMA MP990.

Canon PowerShot S90

CNET UK is fast becoming a nice reviewing site for me. Their latest camera review is of the Canon PowerShot S90 compact digital camera that is supposed to be a high-end compact.

Some key features for the Canon PowerShot S90:
-10 megapixel image sensor
-3.8x optical zoom (equivalent to 28-105mm) bright f/2.0 lens
-3″ LCD screen
-Optical image stabilization
-ISO sensitivity up to 12,800

CNET UK ends up giving the Canon PowerShot S90 a very good 9.1 out of 10 rating. They really like the design of the camera and it also takes pictures of excellent quality. The S90 also has good lens control and ability to record RAW-files. The only downside is no hi-def video and the rear controller could have been designed better.

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM

SLR Gear has tested the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. This macro lens from Canon has an interesting 100mm that give it effectively 160mm on APS-C DSLR cameras. The f/2.8 is also very useful when taking macro pictures of fast insects.

SLR Gear ends up giving the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM a very good review as the lens is able to produce sharp pictures even wide open at f/2.8 on Full Frame cameras. The addition of image stabilization is also a very addition for macro photographers. Overall this Canon macro lens looks like a good option for Canon photographers.

Canon PowerShot G11

Photography Blog has reviewed the exciting new compact camera from Canon, the Canon PowerShot G11. I find the G11 exciting because Canon has lowered the amount of pixels on the image sensor compared to the G10. Let us hope this move will improve image quality.

-5x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 28-140mm)
-Optical image stabilization
-RAW + JPEG shooting

Photography Blog ends up giving the Canon PowerShot G11 a “Highly Recommended” 4.5 out of 5 stars rating. It gets a good rating because the camera is able to produce very good pictures and has a lot of nice features. The only downside is that you can not use other lenses which you can on the new Olympus Pen 1 and Panasonic GF1.
