CNET UK has tested a new digital camera from Panasonic. The Panasonic camera is called Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX70 (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX75 in some markets) and has over 14 megapixels combined with a nice Leica branded wide angle zoom lens that starts at F2.2.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX70 / FX75:
-14.1 megapixel image sensor
-5x optical zoom lens (24-120mm, F2.2-5.9)
-Optical image stabilization
-AVCHD Lite 720p video
-3″ LCD touchscreen

CNET UK ends up giving the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX70 a total score of 3.5 stars out of 5 possible. On the positive side we find a useful zoom range, good build quality and the touchscreen works well. On the negative side the reviewer find aspects such as expensive price tag, sensor limitations and the new technologies are confusing. The Panasonic camera is good, but it is not excellent so it does not really justify the high price. The so called “intelligent technologies” also seem a bit redundant.

Trusted Reviews has tested a printer from Brother. This Brother printer is called Brother MFC-J415W and is able to print up to 35 pages per minute in black and 28 pages per minute in color, or so Brother claims.

Some key features for the Brother MFC-J415W:
-Print speeds up to 35ppm for black and 28ppm for color
-Paper cassette with 100 sheet capacity
-15-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)
-Two memory card slots

Trusted Reviews ends up giving the Brother MFC-J415W a not very good review with an overall score of 6 points out of 10 possible. The printer scores highest on features, lower on print quality and print speed while scoring lowest on value for your money. The reviewer find this Brother printer to be more or less the same as earlier models so there is really no reason to upgrade. Hopefully Brother will make more improvements with their next line of printers.
