Brother HL-2280DW wireless monochrome printer test / review by PC Magazine

PC Magazine has tested a monochrome printer from Brother. The printer is called Brother HL-2280DW and is able to print up to 27 pages per minute or so Brother claims.

Some key features for the Brother HL-2280DW:
-Print speeds up to 27 pages per minute
-Wireless and ethernet connectivity
-Automatic duplexing
-250-sheet capacity paper tray

PC Magazine ends up giving the HL-2280DW an overall score of 3 out of 5 possible stars. The printer scores highest on performance, a little lower on design, while it scores lowest on features. On the positive side the reviewer finds the Brother printer to find the automatic duplexing to useful, low price tag and it is able to do both printing and scanning. On the negative the reviewer finds the toner to be expensive.

CNET UK has tested a compact camera from Sony with an unusual design (see picture). The camera is called Sony Cyber-shot DSC-J10 and comes with plenty of megapixels and a wide zoom lens starting at 26mm.

Some key features for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-J10:
-16.1 megapixel image sensor
-4x optical zoom lens (26-104mm)
-2.7″ LCD screen
-4GB of internal memory
-Built-in USB arm
-Comes in black and blue, blue and silver, white and pink

CNET UK ends up giving the Cyber-shot DSC-J10 an average rating with an overall score of 3 out of 5 possible stars. On the positive side the reviewer finds aspects such as the USB-arm, lots of internal storage, an app to share your photos and the design is different. There are some negative points too including poor video quality, it is not possible to add more storage and it does not handle bright photo situations very well. Overall this camera is a pretty average performer, but if you are looking for a camera with lots of internal memory and an USB-arm this might be your choice.

Printer Comparison has reviewed a multifunction color laser printer from Xerox that is targeted at small businesses. The Xerox printer is called is a 5-in-1 printer that is able to print up to 24 pages per minute, or so the manufacturer claims.

Some key features for the Xerox WorkCentre 6505DN:
-Print speeds up to 24 pages per minute in both monochrome and color
-Print resolution up to 600 x 600 x 4 dpi
-Able to print, copy, scan, fax and email
-35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF)
-Automatic duplexing
-Ethernet and USB 2 connectivity

Printer Comparison ends up giving the WorkCentre 6505 an overall score of 4 out of 5 possible stars. The printer scores highest on print quality where it gets almost a perfect score, a little lower on design, ease of use and print speeds, while it scores lowest on operational costs and support. On the positive side the reviewer likes the great print quality, how easy it is to use and the ADF. On the negative side they find some issues with automatic duplexing and it can not print Word documents directly from USB. Overall this is a good multifunction printer for the a smaller business.

SLR Gear has testes an interesting macro lens from Sigma. The lens is called Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro and is able to photograph at a very wide aperture.

SLR Gear ends up giving the a good review especially if you are using the lens on full frame DSLR camera. The lens does not offer the best sharpness and corner shading wide open, but it is better when used on a full frame camera.
