Dpreview.com has tested one of the widest lenses on the marked, the Sigma 10-20mm 1:4-5.6 EX DC HSM lens. They have tested it for the Nikon F mount, but the lens is also available for Canon, Sigma, Sony, Pentax and the Four Thirds format.

Andy Westlake of Dpreview ends up giving the Sigma lens a “Recommended” rating because it is able to take pictures with very little chromatic aberration, it has good build quality, fast and silent auto focus and it is very wide.
The only downsides are that the lens is not the sharpest one on the marked and there is distortion at the widest angle (10mm).
