It is not that too long ago that General Electric got into the digital camera business. With the GE E1480W they have created a camera with 14 megapixels and 8x optical zoom that should be good for travels. PC Magazine have now tested this GE camera.

Some key features for the General Electric E1480W:
-14 megapixel image sensor
-8x optical zoom lens (28-224mm)
-6x digital zoom
-Optical image stabilization
-3″ LCD screen
-Face detection
-18MB internal memory
-Uses SD and SDHC memory cards

PC Magazine ends up giving the E1480W a “good” rating with an overall score of 3 out of 5 points. The reviewer finds some positive points including fast and responsive controls, slim body, useful zoom range and the camera got a lot of features compared to the price. On the negative side there is aspects such as quite a bit of noise at higher ISO levels, bad user interface and no USB port. Overall you get a lot of features in this GE camera, but they could have done more work on the image quality. Hopeful General Electric will do a better job with their next cameras.
