CNET UK has reviewed one of the newest compact digital cameras from Panasonic. This time they have got their hands on an ultrazoom camera called Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 thats sports an impressive wide angle lens that also can reach a massive 600mm.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100:
-14.1 megapixel image sensor
-24x optical zoom lens (25-600mm)
-Optical image stabilization
-3″ flip-out LCD screen
-Records 1080i HD movies in AVCHD format
-Intelligent Auto (iA) mode
-Uses SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards

CNET UK ends up giving the FZ100 a good review with an overall score of 4 out of 5 possible stars. The reviewer finds that the Panasonic camera have a very usable zoom range, the image stabilization works extremely good, you get some manual controls in the video mode and you get full manual controls while taking pictures. The only downsides that CNET find worth noting is that there is some noise over ISO 400 and the electronic viewfinder could be better. Overall the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 seems like a very good camera if you are looking for a compact camera with a large zoom range.

Panasonic LX5
Panasonic LX5

CNET UK was extremely early this time with reviewing new cameras from Panasonic. They have reviewed the highly anticipated Panasonic LX5 high end digital camera. This super compact camera comes with a large 10 megapixel sensor and an extended zoom range compared to the Panasonic LX3. Let us hope that CNET UK is thorough in their review.

Some key features for the Panasonic LX5:
-10.1 megapixel large image sensor
-3.8x optical zoom lens (24-90mm, F2.0-3.3)
-Optical image stabilization
-3″ LCD screen
-720p HD video

CNET UK ends up actually giving the Panasonic LX5 a lower score than I expected with 3.5 stars out of 5 possible. The reviewer finds the LX5 to be a very good camera, but thinks that Panasonic wants to put the LX5 apart from their Micro Four Thirds range and this makes the LX5 suffer from a lack of features. On the positive side the reviewer likes the bright lens, the body design and new jog wheel, but they do not like the plasticky feel and that you can not adjust the flash. In my opinion I would wait for more reviews if you are sitting on the fence about buying the LX5.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix G2:
-12.1 megapixel image sensor

-Pop-up flash
-Electronic viewfinder
-Stabilized lens: 14-42mm Lumix G VARIO f/3.5-5.6 MEGA OIS

Trusted Reviews ends up giving the Panasonic Lumix G2 a “Trusted Reviews Recommended” reward with an overall score of 9 out of 10 points. The G2 gets a top score on build quality, almost perfect score on features while getting a little lower on image quality and value for your money. The G2 seems to be even better than the G1 even though the update is not that big. The camera seems like a winner so if you are looking to get into the Mirco Four Thirds system this might be your choice.
