Samsung HZ25W – WB5000 test / review by CNET UK – digital camera with 24x zoom

CNET UK has reviewed the Samsung HZ25W (known as Samsung WB5000 in Europe) compact digital camera. This Samsung features an impressive 24x optical zoom and 14.47 megapixels. It remains to be seen if such impressive specifications is able to produce pictures of good quality.

-14.47 megapixel image sensor
-3″ LCD screen
-720p HD video recording in H.264 format
-Optical image stabilization
-RAW format shooting

CNET UK ends up giving the Samsung HZ25W / WB5000 a total score of 6.8 points out of 10. The reviewer likes the zoom range, the quality of the LCD screen and that it is able to shoot RAW files, but there are a few shortcomings like that image stabilization does not work that good, the camera is slow and the pictures it is able to produce is below standard. Next time Samsung should put more energy into developing camera that can take pictures of good quality.

Digital Camera Review has tested the Kodak EasyShare Z915 compact digital camera. This Kodak camera contains 10 megapixels and 10x optical zoom in a camera body that resemble a small DSLR.

-10x optical zoom lens (35-350mm)
-Image stabilization
-2.5″ LCD screen
-Video mode: 640×480 at 30fps
-ISO sensitivity 100-1600

Digital Camera Review gives the Kodak EasyShare Z915 a good review, but it does not really stand out from other superzoom cameras in the same class. The Z915 scores good on design, noise control and value, but the lens could have been better, autofoucs faster and the small LCD screen isn’t all that good. Overall the EasyShare Z915 is a nice superzoom camera that probably will sell quite a lot.

Imaging Resource has reviewed the Canon PowerShot SD970 IS Digital ELPH compact camera (know as Digital IXUS 990 IS in Europe). This digital camera from Canon feature 12 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom lens. Let us hear what Imaging Resource thinks about the camera.

Imaging Resource ends up giving the Canon PowerShot SD970 IS a “Dave’s Pick” award. The reviewer find the camera to have good auto focus, takes nice pictures, handles noise well and has a good design. The camera also has a lot of nice features and seems to be one of the best cameras in its class.

CNET UK has reviewed the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 compact digital camera. This Panasonic camera has 12.1 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom lens. The specs seem pretty average so is it worth the price tag?

CNET UK ends up giving the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 a 7.0 out of 10 rating. The reviewer likes the design of the camera and thinks it has a lot of useful features. What they do not like are a bit mixed photo quality and the performance of the camera is a bit slow. Overall it seems like a pretty good compact camera, but the shutter lag should have been faster.
