Canon PowerShot SX200 IS

Digital Camera Resource Page has reviewed the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS compact camera. This medium zoom camera looks like it supposed to compete with the popular Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5.

-12x optical zoom lens (28-336mm eq., F3.4-5.3)
-3″ LCD screen
-image stabilization
-HD movie mode

Digital Camera Resource Page ends up giving the Canon SX200 camera a pretty good review. The camera is able to take good pictures, has a nice zoom range and lets you use fully manual controls.
The only downsides are a bit harsh noise control, poor flash and below average battery life.
Overall the Canon camera seems to be a good travel companion.

Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 ZE

DIWA Labs has tested the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 ZE lens on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR camera body. This manual focusing lens is equipped with an all-electronic Canon EF mount making you able to set aperture in the camera.
DIWA Labs found out that the lens produce excellent results at medium and small apertures, but wide open it is a bit soft especially in the corners of the picture. This is due to the fact that the lens was tested on a full frame camera body.

Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ZE

DIWA Labs has tested the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ZE lens on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera. This manual focusing lens delivers excellent results at small and medium apertures, but is a bit soft wide open on a full frame camera especially in the corners.

Canon PowerShot SX1 IS

Dpreview has reviewed the compact camera Canon PowerShot SX1 IS. This superzoom camera with a 20x optical zoom lens is replacing the successful S5 IS camera.

Some key features for the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS:
-1080p (1,920 x 1080 pixel) movies at 30 frames per second
-2.8″ 16:9 wide-aspect screen
-10 megapixel sensor
-20x optical zoom lens (28 – 560mm)

Don Wan of dpreivew.com ends up giving the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS camera a “recommended (just)” rating. The camera is not getting a top score because the image quality isn’t all that good. Higher ISO levels are pretty bad too.
Seems like one should check out other options before buying the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS.
