Canon EOS 60D

Several rumour blogs has posted information about the specifications for a new DSLR camera from Canon. The digital camera is supposed to be called Canon EOS 60D and is the successor to the 50D camera.

Here are the rumoured specifications for the Canon EOS 60D:
-15.1 megapixels
-ISO 100-25600
-7 fps
-Digic V
-Movie-mode: 1080p with 30 and 24fps
-Build in GPS for geo-tagging
-Only a SD-card slot (no CF)
-148×109×75mm and 738g

In my opinion the most interesting factors in the Canon EOS 60D is the increased ISO sensitivty and the movie mode. The build in GPS unit would also be a very nice addition. It remains to be seen if these rumours about the Canon EOS 60D have some truth to them.

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 USM L II

Photozone has reviewed the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 USM L II lens on a full frame DSLR camera body. This lens is quite interesting with its wide focal length and constant f/2.8 aperture. It is targeted at the professional with its hefty price tag.

Photozone ends up giving the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 USM L II lens a pretty good review, but it has some shortcomings. You do not get top results when the lens is used wide open and there is some vignetting at the widest settings on a full frame camera. Overall this seems like a good lens, but it could be better..

Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS

Photography Blog has reviewed the Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS (know as PowerShot SD1200 IS on some markeds) compact digital camera. This entry level camera features a 10 megapixel image sensor and 3x optical zoom.
Some key features for the Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS:
-10 megapixel sensor
-3x optical zoom lens
-2.5″ LCD screen
-Optical Image Stabilization
-Face Detection
-Anti-Blur
-ISO sensitivity from 80 to 1600

Photography Blog ends up giving the Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS a “Recommended” rating due to the cameras ease of use and lots of features for a good price. One downside is the lack of HD video, but that might not be a deal breaker.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L IS

Photozone has reviewed the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L IS lens. This zoom lens with image stabilization has been tested by Photozone on a full frame camera to see how well it performs on a bigger image sensor.

Photozone ends up giving the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L IS lens a “Highly Recommended” rating. The lens is a very good performer even on a full frame camera with little vignetting and and it has very good resolution. The build quality is excellent and is has even built in image stabilization so this seems like a very good lens. The only downside is a hefty price tag.
