Ricoh GZ-1

There have been some rumors circulating on the internet about a new camera from Ricoh called Ricoh GZ-1. This new camera seems to like Micro Four Thirds cameras from Panasonic and Olympus by that the Ricoh GZ-1 has interchangeable lenses (but I’m not completely sure about this). Ricoh GZ-1 also feature a large 14 megapixel CMOS sensor and new high-end LCD screen.
I hope this rumor is true as it would be exciting to see Ricoh entering this part of the camera marked.

Some key features for the Ricoh GZ-1:
-Interchangeable lenses
-14 megapixel CMOS sensor
-High-end LCD screen of new design
-Built-in flash

No information yet about how much the Ricoh GZ-1 will cost or when it will be on the marked.

Camera Labs has reviewed the Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS compact camera (known as Canon PowerShot SD 990 IS ELPH in North America). This digital camera has a total of 14.7 megapixels crammed into the image sensor which should be enough megapixels for most photographers.

Some key features for the Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS / PowerShot SD 990 IS:
-14.7 megapixels
-2.5″ LCD screen
-3.7 x optical zoom (36-133mm, f/2.8-5.8)
-Image stabilization

Camera Labs ends up giving the Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS camera a “Recommended” 82% score. The Canon camera has massive resolution but the improved number of megapixels does not improve the image quality compared to a 12 megapixel sensor. The camera scores high on build quality and features, but a little lower on value and handling.

Lets Go Digital has reviewed the Canon PowerShot A2100 IS compact digital camera. The camera feature a 12.1 megapixel sensor and 6x optical zoom so it should have good enough features for most photographers.

Some key features for the Canon PowerShot A2100 IS:
-12.1 megapixel sensor
-6x optical zoom lens (36 – 216mm)
-3″ LCD screen
-Smart Auto mode

Lets Go Digital ends up giving the Canon PowerShot A2100 IS a 77% “Recommended” rating. The A2100 has not changed much from the previous model except for increased amount of megapixels, but it is a nice camera that can be fun to use, but the image quality could be better.
