The reputable camera website dpreview.com has reviewed the new consumer DLSR camera from Nikon, the D60 that is a successor to Nikon’s successful D40 and D40x. There isn’t much difference from the D40x and D60, but the D60 got a new kit lens (AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR) with stabilization and some other minor changes.

Dpreview ends up giving the Nikon D60 a “Highly Recommended” rating due to very good resolution, detail and good dynamic range (better than D40 and D40x). The camera also has good build quality and is very lightweight.
The only downsides are that the camera doesn’t have a lens motor thus there are less lenses to choose from if you want auto-focus and some other minor cons.
Overall this camera seems like a very competitive camera for new DSLR users.
