Camera Labs has tested the Canon PowerShot A490 / A495 compact digital camera. The A490 and A495 are different cameras, but in reality there are very few differences so Camera Labs has chosen to include both cameras in their review. Both cameras have 10 megapixels, 3.3x optical zoom and come at a low price.

Some key features for the Canon PowerShot A490 / A495:
-10 megapixel image sensor
-3.3x optical zoom lens (37-122mm)
-2.5″ LCD screen
-Uses SD and SDHC memory cards

Camera Labs ends up giving the Canon PowerShot A490 / A495 a “Recommended” rating with an overall score of 83%. The camera scores highest on value, build quality and image quality while scoring a little lower on handling and specification. If you can live with lack of image stabilization and not really a wide lens this budget camera from Canon could be your choice. But as always you should hold the camera in a store to see if the camera feels good to hold.
