Photography Blog has reviewed one of the many DSLR cameras from Sony. This mid-range DSLR called Sony Alpha A450 contains a 14.2 megapixel sensor and is able to take pictures up to ISO 12800.

Some key features for the Sony Alpha A450:
-14.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor
-2.7″ LCD screen
-ISO sensitivity from 200 to 12800
-Auto HDR mode
-7 FPS
-Live View
-9-point autofocus sensor system

Photography Blog ends up giving the Sony Alpha A450 a “Recommended” rating with an overall score of 4 out of 5 stars. The Sony DSLR scores highest on image quality and design, a little lower on ease of use and value for your money and scoring lowest on features. The camera from Sony seems to be able to take very good pictures, but it has some shortcomings like small viewfinder, no video mode and you do not really get many features when you look on the price tag. It can be confusing to understand the DSLR camera line-up from Sony and one got to wonder why they have produced this camera when they have so many other DSLR choices.

CNET UK has reviewed a new compact digital camera from Fujifilm with a large touch-screen. The camera is called Fujifilm FinePix Z700EXR and has a 3.5″ touch-screen combined with face recognition and Facebook tagging.

Some key features for the Fujifilm FinePix Z700EXR:
-12 megapixel image sensor
-3.5″ LCD touch-screen
-5x optical zoom lens (36-180mm)
-HD movies in 720p quality
-Face recognition
-Facebook tagging

CNET UK ends up giving the Fujifilm FinePix Z700EXR an overall score of 6.7 points out of 10 possible. The reviewer likes the large LCD screen and touch-screen functionality can be very useful. On the downside we find several things like that the EXR sensor is not all that good and it makes more problems than gains. In addition the image quality is just average and zoom range is not at all wide making the camera less useful when photographing landscapes. Overall the Z700EXR seems like a capable digital camera, but there are better cameras on the market.

SLR Gear has reviewed the new superzoom lens from Olympus for the Micro Four Thirds system. The lens is called Olympus 14-150mm f/4-5.6 ED M.Zuiko Digital and feature lightweight single-element internal focus units for quieter and more responsive autofocus. The focal length equals 28-300mm in the 35mm format. The lens is designed to fit the Micro Four Thirds system perfectly so let us hear what the reviewer at SLR Gear finds out about the lens.

SLR Gear ends up giving the Olympus 14-150mm f/4-5.6 ED M.Zuiko Digital a good review and they even say that the lens is very good, but it has a few shortcomings (like most superzoom lenses) like high chromatic aberrations at some focal lengths. The Olympus lens is not the sharpest lens that is ever produced but for a superzoom lens it is pretty sharp. If you are looking for a good walk-around lens for your Micro Four Thirds camera this Olympus lens might be your choice.

CNET UK has reviewed a new compact digital camera from Fujifilm. The camera is called Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR and feature a 12MP Super CCD EXR image sensor.

Some key features for the Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR:
-12MP Super CCD EXR sensor
-10x optical zoom lens (27-270mm)
-3″ LCD screen
-Able to record 720p HD movies
-Pet Detection mode

CNET UK ends up giving the Fujifilm FinePix F80EXR a pretty good review with an overall score of 7.7 points out of 10 possible points. The reviewer likes the nice zoom range, the dynamic range modes and that you are able to use autofocus and zooming while using the video mode. What the reviewer does not like is that the F80EXR produces some pixel artifacts, that you get a drop in resolution while using EXR mode and the EXR setting is not fully integrated while shooting in normal mode. Overall the Fujifilm camera is nice looking camera that might have benefited from having a “normal” image sensor instead of the EXR one.
