SLR Gear has testes an interesting macro lens from Sigma. The lens is called Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro and is able to photograph at a very wide aperture.

SLR Gear ends up giving the a good review especially if you are using the lens on full frame DSLR camera. The lens does not offer the best sharpness and corner shading wide open, but it is better when used on a full frame camera.

Photography Blog has tested the Sigma DP1s. This compact digital camera from Sigma has a big 14 megapixel Foveon image sensor so it seems that Sigma has created a compact that takes image quality serious. But now that Panasonic and Olympus has released their Micro Four Thirds camera is seems Sigma has got it tougher. Let us hear what the reviewer thinks about the DP1s.

Some key features for the Sigma DP1s camera:
-14.06 megapixel Foveon X3 sensor
-28mm f/4 prime lens
-2.5″ LCD screen
-RAW format support
-External hotshoe

Photography Blog ends up giving the Sigma DP1s an “Above average” rating with 3.5 out of 5 stars. The Sigma camera scores highest on image quality while scoring lower on value, features, ease of use and design. It is able to take pictures of excellent quality, but the camera lacks all the features you can get with Micro Four Thirds camera and on top of that it is quite expensive. The DP1s still seems like an interesting camera if you want the unique Foveon quality on your pictures.

SLR Gear has reviewed the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM AF lens. This standard zoom lens has a constant large aperture across the zoom range making it more interesting than other standard zooms with varying aperture. But the constant aperture comes at a price since the Sigma lens got a $900 price tag. Will the hefty price be worth it?

SLR Gear find the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM AF to be pretty good, especially on cameras with smaller sensors than full frame cameras as you get quite a bit of vignetting on full frame. Wide open you get quite a bit of corner softness and chromatic aberrations, but if you stop it down it performs better. If you need sharp pictures at f/2.8 you might want to look at a more expensive lens, but if that is not so important for you you should consider this Sigma lens.

SLR Gear ends up giving the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM a very good review as the lens is able to take very sharp pictures especially at the wide end (where it counts). There is a bit of chromatic aberration, but there is less vignetting and corner shading than in the previous version of this Sigma lens.

Photography Blog ends up giving the Sigma DP2 a “Recommended” rating as the camera is able to take pictures of very good quality. The DP2 also scores high on design and ease of use, but it does not get the highest score because there are other cameras out there that give the Sigma DP2 a lot of competition. Examples of these cameras are the Micro Four Thirds cameras from Panasonic and Olympus.
Kudos to Sigma for taking a chance and producing a compact camera where image quality is in focus.

Lets Go Digital has done a field test with Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Macro lens on a full frame camera body. The test was done with a Canon EOS 5D Mark 2 full frame camera. This Sigma lens is available for many different mounts including Canon, Nikon, Four Thirds (Olympus and Panasonic) and Sigma mounts. I have considered buying this lens for my Olympus E-500 DSLR as I love macro photography so it will be interesting to see what the reviewer thinks about the lens.

Lets Go Digital ends up giving the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Macro lens a very good review as the lens takes very sharp pictures, especially from aperture 4. The auto focus is pretty fast, but it produces a bit of vignetting on a full frame camera.
Seems like an excellent macro lens if you need to long range to capture skittish bugs.

SLR Gear has tested the Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG HSM APO RF lens (also known as Bigma). This lens has an impressive zoom range that fit the needs of birders and wildlife photographers so it is interesting to see how the picture quality is at the long end of the zoom. The Sigma 50-500mm is available for many different camera mounts including Canon, Nikon, Four-Thirds, Sigma, Pentax and Sony.

SLR Gear gives the Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG HSM APO RF lens an ok review as the lens is not the sharpest lens they have ever tested, but what can you expect with such a big zoom range. At some focal ranges and apertures you can get pretty good results. Chromatic aberrations and distortion is also well controlled.
Overall this ultrazoom lens from Sigma seems interesting if you need a big zoom range for birding and wildlife photography.
