Photography Blog has reviewed a new Micro Four Thirds camera from Panasonic called Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1. This system camera seems to be a kind of successor to the popular GF1 model from Panasonic. Let us hear what the reviewer thinks about this digital camera.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1 camera:
-16 megapixel image sensor
-3″ touchscreen
-ISO range from 160 to 12800
-Full HD movies at 1920 x 1080 at 60i (NTSC) / 50i (PAL) in AVCHD format
-4.2fps continuous shooting
-Weighs 318g

Photography Blog ends up giving the GX1 a “Highly Recommended” rating with an overall score of 4.5 stars out of 5 possible. The Panasonic camera scores highest on image quality where it gets a perfect score, a little lower on ease of use, design and features, while it scores lowest on value for your money. It seems like Panasonic has made another nice addition to the Micro Four Thirds line up, but it is a bit too expensive to be chosen as the best camera by Photography Blog.

Photography Blog has tested a small digital camera from Panasonic with several interesting features such as touchscreen and wi-fi compatibility. The camera is called Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX90 and comes with over 12 megapixels and 5x zoom

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX90:
-12.1 megapixel image sensor
-5x optical zoom lens (24 – 120 mm)
-3″ LCD touchscreen
-Full HD recording
-Optical image stabilization
-SDXC card compatibility
-Wi-fi

Photography Blog ends up giving the Lumix DMC-FX90 an overall score of 4 out of 5 possible stars and a “Recommended” rating. This Panasonic camera scores highest on features, almost as high on design and value for your money, while it scores lowest on image quality and ease of use. The FX90 comes with a lot of nice features and if Panasonic had used a bit more money on the image sensor to reduce image noise it would probably have gotten a top score from the reviewer.

Photography Blog has tested a new digital camera from Panasonic that has a 16 megapixel sensor. The camera is called Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS22 (or FH7 in some markets) and also comes with 4x optical zoom and HD video recording. Let us hear what the reviewer thinks about this Panasonic camera.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS22:
-16 megapixel image sensor
-4x optical zoom lens (28-112mm)
-3″ LCD screen with touchscreen abilities
-Able to record 720p HD videos
-84MB built it memory

Photography Blog ends up giving the FS22 a “Highly Recommended” rating with an overall score of 4.5 stars out of 5 possible. The Lumix camera scores highest on design and features, while it scores a little lower on image quality, value for your money and ease of use. If you are looking for a slim compact camera with tons of good features, but do not necessarily need the longest zoom range, this Panasonic camera might be your choice.

Photography Blog has reviewed a compact camera from Panasonic with an interesting zoom range that starts at 24mm and ends at 600mm. The camera is called Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 (in some markets Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ47) and also comes with 12 megapixels and full HD video recording.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 / FZ47:
-12 megapixel image sensor
-24x optical zoom lens (25-600mm)
-Power O.I.S anti-shake system
-Intelligent Auto mode

Photography Blog ends up giving the DMC-FZ48 a “Recommended” rating and an overall score of 4 out of 5 possible stars. The Panasonic camera scores highest on ease of use, design and features, a little lower on image quality, while it scores lowest on value for your money. It is a bit surprising that the camera scores so low on image quality as the image sensor only contains 12 megapixels, but the reviewer finds pictures taken at ISO 400 and higher, to be full of noise. Let us hope Panasonic works harder on image quality with the next camera in this series.
Panasonic’s Newest Slim And Stylish Lumix Digital Camera Features An Easy-to-Use Touch-Screen

The Compact LUMIX FH7 Digital Camera Features Creative Modes, Enabled by a Touch-Screen, to Give Portraits a New Look With Makeup and Retouching

SECAUCUS, NJ (May 12, 2011) – Panasonic today announces the new 16.1-megapixel LUMIX DMC-FH7, which features an incredibly slim and stylish design, making this new digital camera easy to carry – and with intuitive touch-controls, it’s also easy to use. While the LUMIX FH7 is a stylish standout, it does not compromise on performance, featuring a retractable high-quality 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC lens with an impressive 4x optical zoom and High Definition video capabilities that record in 1280 x 720p at a smooth 24 fps, producing clear and vivid images.

The LUMIX FH7 features a 3-inch Smart Touch Screen allowing users to enable Touch Auto Focus (AF), Touch Zoom, Touch Shutter and Intelligent Scene Selector simply by touching the screen. All menu setting options are now available with touch control. In playback mode users can drag the image across the screen with their finger to browse the collection of photos, as if it were a page in a book. Additionally, the LUMIX FH7 features three modes that let users get creative by manually (with the touch of a finger) editing their photos on the digital camera. These modes include:

    *

Beauty Retouch – allows users to retouch faces
*

Esthetic – creates effects on faces such as clearing skin texture and whitening teeth
*

Makeup – gives color options such as foundation, eye-shadow or coloring for the lips and cheeks

“Panasonic continues to offer consumers choice in the digital camera they use and with LUMIX, we want to ensure there are stylish, compact options that still maintain Panasonic’s high standards of image quality, both in still photos and HD videos,” said David Briganti, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “With the new FH7, we’re confident that this small and attractive digital camera will produce photos and videos that users are proud to share, and with new seamless uploading features, they can do so easily to sites, such as Facebook and YouTube.”

The Panasonic LUMIX FH7 features the LUMIX Image Uploader, which instantly share images via Facebook© and video via YouTube™ when the digital camera is connected to a computer or the SD Memory Card is inserted – and the easy on-screen instructions are followed.

Panasonic’s popular iA mode, a suite of technologies that engage automatically – with no setting changes needed by the user – makes it easy for anyone to take beautiful photos. With a dedicated iA button for easy access, the following features can be quickly engaged:

    *

MEGA OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) – Reduces blurry photos due to hand-shake
*

Intelligent ISO Control – Reduces blur when the subject is moving
*

Face Detection – Ensures registered faces are captured in focus with appropriate exposure and digitally corrects unwanted red eyes
*

Intelligent Scene Selector – Selects the best option from: Macro, Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait, Night Scenery and Sunset
*

Intelligent Exposure – Optimizes the exposure for each part of an image, preventing blocked shadows and blown highlights and helps ensure that gradation and details are reproduced beautifully

The Panasonic LUMIX FH7 encompasses Panasonic’s Venus Engine VI image processor, which helps to power Intelligent Resolution technology. With Intelligent Resolution technology, three areas – outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation – are automatically detected and the LUMIX FH7 performs optimum processing to each, resulting in naturally clear images. Furthermore, thanks to Intelligent Resolution technology, Panasonic’s Intelligent Zoom extends the LUMIX FH7’s zoom to a 5x equivalent. The multitasking Venus Engine VI also supports a super-fast response time. The shutter release time lag is incredibly quick, at approximately 0.006 second and its quick response makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities.

Other features of the Panasonic LUMIX FH7 include:

    * Intelligent LCD detects the lighting conditions and controls the brightness level in 11 finely graduated steps, to display the most appropriate setting
* 84MB of built-in memory
* Newly-added Image Stamp mode enables users to decorate photos with 32 different stamps, for those wanting to personalize their images

The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FH7 will be available in black. Pricing and availability will be announced 30 days prior to shipping date. For more information, please visit www.panasonic.com/lumix.

The same day as the new Micro Four Thirds camera from Panasonic is announced, Photography Blog is able to release their review of the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3 digital camera. It is amazing that this blog are so quick, but let us hope they have done a thorough review. The DMC-G3 is the seventh Micro Four Thirds camera from Panasonic and sports a new 16 megapixel image sensor and the camera body is 25% smaller and 9% lighter than the previous model DMC-G2.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3 :
-16-megapixel compact mirrorless system
-3.0-inch free-angle LCD with touch control
-1080/60i HD video capability in AVCHD format
-ISO sensitivity 160-6400
-Photo Style and Creative Control filters

Photography Blog ends up giving the Lumix DMC-G3 a very good review with an “Essential” rating and an overall score of 5 out of 5 stars. The camera gets a perfect score on image quality, value for your money and features, and only a little lower on design and ease of use. The reviewer claims that this is the best Micro Four Thirds camera from Panasonic to date, and it even is able to compete with DSLR cameras from Canon and Nikon even though it has a much smaller size.
Imaging Resource has reviewed a new compact digital camera from Panasonic with built-in GPS function. The camera is called Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 (known as DMC-TZ20 in some markets) and also has over 14 megapixels and nice wide angle zoom lens starting at 24mm.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10:
-14.1 megapixel image sensor
-16x optical zoom lens (24-384mm)
-Nano Surface Coating Technology
-Optical image stabilization
-3″ touchscreen LCD
-Built-In GPS Function
-Able to record full-HD 1920×1080 60i videos

Imaging Resource ends up giving the DMC-ZS10 a recommended rating. On the positive side the reviewer finds aspects such as a useful zoom lens, GPS, large touchscreen and it is able to record full HD-movies. There are also some negative points including not the best image quality, poor battery life, the touchscreen can be hard to use and no support of RAW. If Panasonic had worked a bit harder (or used another type of image sensor) on image quality this camera would probably have scored higher. We hope that Panasonic uses a bit more time on image quality with their next camera in this series.

CNET UK has reviewed a new compact camera from Panasonic with a nice Leica lens. The camera is called Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS37 (DMC-FH27 in some markets) and also has plenty of megapixels and a touchscreen interface.

Some key features for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS37:
-16.1 megapixel image sensor
-8x optical zoom Leica lens (28-224mm)
-3″ touchscreen LCD
-Able to record 720p HD videos

CNET UK ends up giving the DMC-FS37 an overall score of 3.5 stars out of 5 possible. On the positive side the reviewer finds the camera to have a useful zoom range, large LCD screen, stylish design and its performance is fast. On the negative side the reviewer does not like the touchscreen interface and the video function could be better. This Panasonic seems like a good compact camera with good image quality and long zoom, but it is a bit pricey and larger than other compacts.
