Photography Blog has tested the Canon Digital IXUS 130 (also known as Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS in some markets) compact digital camera. This Canon camera has lots of megapixels (over 14) a wide angle zoom lens and able to shoot movies in HD quality.

Some key features for the Canon Digital IXUS 130 / Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS:
-14.1 megapixel image sensor
-4x optical zoom lens (28-112mm)
-Image stabilization
-2.7″ LCD screen
-Able to shoot 720p HD movies
-Smart AUTO mode

Photography Blog ends up giving the Canon Digital IXUS 130 / Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS a “Recommended” rating with an overall score of 4 out of 5 stars. The camera scores highest on design, a little lower on features and ease of use and lowest on value for your hard earned money and image quality. It is a pretty good camera, but the price tag is pretty high and the image quality is just average so it seems there are better cameras out there in this class.

Trusted Reviews has tested a multifunction printer called Samsung CLX-6220FX. This MFP from Samsung is able to print up to 20 pages per minute.

-Ethernet and USB 2 connectivity
-Weighs over 35 kg

Trusted Reviews ends up giving the Samsung CLX-6220FX an overall score of 8 out of 10 points. The printer scores highest on print quality and features while scoring lower on print speed and value. The Samsung is a pretty good multifunction color laser printer especially since it is able to render colors in pictures very well. One downside is that the printer is not the fastest in its class.

Olympus mju Tough-3000 test / review by CNET UK – digital camera that survives 5 feet drops

CNET UK has tested the Olympus Stylus Tough-3000 digital camera. This camera from Olympus is pretty rugged and is able to handle drops from 5 feet, takes pictures down to 10 feet under water and handles temperatures down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

-Survives drops from up to 5 feet
-Used at temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit / -10 degrees Celsius
-12 megapixel image sensor
-3.6x optical zoom lens (28-100,8mm)

-ISO sensitivity from 64 to 1600

CNET UK ends up giving the Olympus Stylus Tough-3000 an overall score of 6.5 point out of 10. The reviewer likes the price of the camera when you look at what kind of features you get, the useful zoom range and the design of the camera. On the downside we find not so good picture quality and the controls could be better. I hope Olympus will work harder on image quality on their feature cameras!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 test / review by Imaging Resource – slim waterproof digital camera

Imaging Resource has tested the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 digital camera. This Sony camera is supposed to be the slimmest camera that is waterproof. The camera also handles drops and cold temperatures.

Some key features for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5:
-10.2 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor
-3″ LCD touchscreen
-4x optical zoom lens (25-100mm)
-SteadyShot Image Stabilization
-Waterproof up to 3 meters
-Coldproof down to -10°C
-Shock-resistant up to 1.5 meters

Imaging Resource ends up giving the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 a good review and it even gets a “Dave’s Pick” award. The reviewer find the TX5 to take pictures of good quality and the design of the camera is very good. It also has a lot of useful features and the zoom range is nice. The only downsides with the TX5 is that the noise filter can be too harsh and the auto focus could be better. Overall it seems like a very good waterproof camera that will fit most pockets.
